FutureB-
Nobody dealt better than the Chiefs this weekend: B. If confidence were a draft strategy, the Chiefs would have aced it. Jaheim Bell at the 132nd pick is 32 spots clear of where he belonged. The bottom line is a respectable B.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. The Chiefs indulged a want in Solomon while a need in quarterback and edge rusher stayed open. Landing Adams that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.
They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick30
Rnd1
Adonai Mitchell
A straight-up fair deal on Adonai Mitchell at the 30th pick, value and slot in agreement. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick42
Rnd2
Braden Fiske
A reach for Braden Fiske in Round 2, Pick 10; a little patience would have been rewarded. It fills a real need, too.
Pick64
Rnd2
Xavier Legette
They paid up for Xavier Legette at the Round 2 slot when waiting would have done the job. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick95
Rnd3
Javon Solomon
A surprising call. With quarterback and edge rusher still to address, they spent pick 95 on Javon Solomon, an OLB-EDGE they were not short of.
Pick132
Rnd4
Jaheim Bell
A real head-scratcher, Jaheim Bell in pick No. 132 is miles ahead of his ranking. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick159
Rnd5
Isaiah Adams
You do not let an offensive lineman like Isaiah Adams reach No. 159 and blink. They did not. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick173
Rnd5
Marist Liufau
A slide stopped in No. 173, with Marist Liufau worth more than the price. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick252
Rnd7
Miyan Williams
They paid sticker price for Miyan Williams in pick No. 252, and that is fine. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
