The tape said wait; the Panthers did not. Phillip Webb went at the 162nd pick, a good 129 picks before the board was ready.

That is a running back worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. The Walker pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at quarterback. The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
