Smith-Wade should have been long gone. The Packers pounced, and earned a B. The Packers did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Chau Smith-Wade fell into the Round 6 slot. No fireworks, but a solid B.
They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. Stockpiling next year's capital is patient, if unglamorous, asset work.
They went 4 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. The veteran additions, Tashawn Manning chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
