Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall

ValueB
NeedB
TradesA+
FutureA-
Moore should have been long gone. The Cowboys pounced, and earned a A-. Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Terry Moore got past him. The Cowboys do not have to explain a thing at the 142nd overall pick.
They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. They punted on tight end, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
The Mahlman reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. The hoard sets up next April more than it helps this September.
Bottom line, with Avieon Terrell leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.
Pick Analysis
Pick27
Rnd1
Avieon Terrell
In Round 1, Pick 27 they get a sticky cover corner. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick41
Rnd2
Caleb Banks
No drama and no debate, Caleb Banks went about where he belonged in the Round 2 slot. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick58
Rnd2
Michael Taaffe
Michael Taaffe is a better player than the 58th overall pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick59
Rnd2
Makhi Hughes
They read the board right and Makhi Hughes was the payoff at pick 59. The roster fit checks out.
Pick83
Rnd3
Jalon Kilgore
Jalon Kilgore in slot 83 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick109
Rnd4
Domonique Orange
The board fumbled Domonique Orange all the way to No. 109, and they scooped it up. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick119
Rnd4
Charles Jagusah
A clean, defensible pick in the 119th pick with a little surplus value in Charles Jagusah. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick142
Rnd5
Terry Moore
They robbed the room for Terry Moore here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Pick148
Rnd5
Raylen Wilson
Circle this one: Raylen Wilson at the Round 5 slot is a fall that decides a draft. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick177
Rnd6
Taylen Green
Steal is underselling it; Taylen Green at the 177th pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick188
Rnd6
Barion Brown
Barion Brown at pick 188 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick214
Rnd6
Riley Mahlman
Riley Mahlman at No. 214 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
