ctb13101 DRAFTING FOR THEFalcons
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Falcons
Overall
B
ValueA
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
Grand theft in No. 225: the Falcons steal Johnson and grade out a B. You build a draft on nights like this. Tao Johnson had no business being available in the 225th overall pick, and the Falcons did the only sane thing and turned in the card. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.
They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. The Delp pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick Analysis
Pick44
Rnd2
T.J. Parker
Somehow T.J. Parker was still sitting there in pick 44, and they pounced on premier edge rusher value. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick76
Rnd3
Jake Slaughter
The board fumbled Jake Slaughter all the way to No. 76, and they scooped it up. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick112
Rnd4
Oscar Delp
A reach on Oscar Delp in pick No. 112; the board had better options right there. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick151
Rnd5
Deion Burks
A wide receiver of that caliber at the 151st overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick225
Rnd7
Tao Johnson
Tao Johnson in slot 225 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A minor need, but a need all the same.
