Gusraetsen DRAFTING FOR THEFalcons

Draft Grade — Falcons
Overall
B+
ValueB
NeedA-

FutureB
The Falcons finally solved quarterback, and it carried them to a B+. The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Falcons spent their marquee pick on Jayden Daniels, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback.
The McCormick pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast.
They punted on running back, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Jaquan Brisker gives the group a proven body among the projects.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the running back spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick9
Rnd1
Jayden Daniels
In the 9th overall pick they get the face of the franchise at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick43
Rnd2
Adonai Mitchell
A quiet steal in No. 43: Adonai Mitchell for less than the market said. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick74
Rnd3
Patrick Paul
Patrick Paul in Round 3, Pick 10 lands just on the right side of the ledger. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick75
Rnd3
Kris Abrams-Draine
They took Kris Abrams-Draine at par in pick No. 75, which is nothing to complain about. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick79
Rnd3
Brandon Dorlus
By-the-book stuff, Brandon Dorlus at slot 79 squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick110
Rnd4
DeWayne Carter
A clean, defensible pick in the Round 4 slot with a little surplus value in DeWayne Carter. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick142
Rnd5
Michael Pratt
They did well to land Michael Pratt in pick 142, just ahead of his grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick199
Rnd6
Mason McCormick
Somehow Mason McCormick was still sitting there in the 199th pick, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
