The board owed the Commanders one, and it paid up: Jaylin Simpson, the No. 153 name on the board, sitting there at slot 184 like a gift left on the doorstep. Very little went wrong, and the A is earned.

The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.

In short, they turned a good board into a better roster, and it shows.
