Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall B
ValueB NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
A sensible, unshowy class lands the 49ers a B.

They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: Trevor Keegan, 36 picks early at pick 215. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.

However the rest shakes out, Kinchens at that price is a win they earned. A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. The roster is better shaped than it was, with offensive lineman chief among the fixes.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.

Pick Analysis
Pick31 Rnd1 Taliese Fuaga
In No. 31 they get a long-term starter on the line at a price that makes it sweeter. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick63 Rnd2 Kamren Kinchens
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Kamren Kinchens in Round 2, Pick 31, plain and simple. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick94 Rnd3 Zak Zinter
Zak Zinter at the 94th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick98 Rnd3 Leonard Taylor III
A premium they did not need to pay, Leonard Taylor III a notch or two before his time. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick132 Rnd4 Khyree Jackson
Khyree Jackson in slot 132 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick176 Rnd6 Javon Baker
Javon Baker in pick No. 176 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick209 Rnd6 Jawhar Jordan
They paid up for Jawhar Jordan at the Round 6 slot when waiting would have done the job. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick214 Rnd6 Marcellas Dial
Marcellas Dial at pick No. 214 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Pick215 Rnd6 Trevor Keegan
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Trevor Keegan. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick249 Rnd7 Isaac Guerendo
Isaac Guerendo at No. 249 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
