A costly weekend of dealing drags the Texans to a D-.

Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Texans spent pick 164 on Deion Burks, a name the board had a full 56 spots lower. Too much went sideways, and the D- is the honest tally.

Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. Getting McCord where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.

The veteran additions, David Njoku chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not. Job largely done: running back settled and 8 of 8 of the wish list covered.

It is a steep hill from here, and the grade knows it.
