extremeimpulse DRAFTING FOR THEPackers
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Packers
Overall
B-
ValueB-
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Packers kept it disciplined and banked a B-. For all the boxes ticked, the Packers skipped the loudest one: edge rusher is exactly as bare as it was. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
The Thomas pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. They are betting Rosengarten proves the room right and everyone else wrong. They went 6 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
Cooper DeJean
In No. 25 they get a ballhawk on the outside. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick41
Rnd2
Ladd McConkey
They did well to land Ladd McConkey in pick 41, just ahead of his grade. The roster fit checks out.
Pick58
Rnd2
Payton Wilson
By-the-book stuff, Payton Wilson at slot 58 squarely in line with his ranking. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick88
Rnd3
Mike Sainristil
They read the board right and Mike Sainristil was the payoff at Round 3, Pick 25. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick91
Rnd3
Bucky Irving
They paid sticker price for Bucky Irving in the Round 3 slot, and that is fine. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick126
Rnd4
Roger Rosengarten
They paid a round early for Roger Rosengarten in the 126th overall pick, more than the board wanted. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick169
Rnd5
Jordan Travis
Jordan Travis at pick No. 169 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick202
Rnd6
Julian Pearl
Julian Pearl in the 202nd pick is fair value, right on his grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick219
Rnd6
Trey Knox
Trey Knox in No. 219 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick245
Rnd7
Nathan Thomas
Nathan Thomas slipping to pick No. 245 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick255
Rnd7
Josh Proctor
A slide stopped in slot 255, with Josh Proctor worth more than the price. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
