The Bears answered their biggest question with McCarthy. Grade: A-.

The search is over. The Bears handed the keys to J.J. McCarthy, and the whole operation now runs on his development. It holds up to a second look, which is why it earns the A-.

The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Bullock. That linebacker hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

The veteran additions, Brian O'Neill chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not.

Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, J.J. McCarthy and all.
