Draft Grade — Commanders

FutureB+
The Commanders answered their biggest question with Maye. Grade: B. They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Drake Maye is the Commanders' quarterback, full stop.
Every board in the league had Eichenberg lower, and that gap is the story. Landing Mustapha that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. The running back spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
Good work on the whole, with running back the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick2
Rnd1
Drake Maye
In the Round 1 slot they get their quarterback of the future. A real need, handled.
Pick40
Rnd2
Chop Robinson
They did well to land Chop Robinson in pick 40, just ahead of his grade. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick63
Rnd2
Ja'Tavion Sanders
Value with a capital V on Ja'Tavion Sanders in pick No. 63, a genuine coup. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick67
Rnd3
Cooper Beebe
The board had cheaper options than Cooper Beebe at slot 67, and it noticed. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick98
Rnd3
Zak Zinter
A tidy little value on Zak Zinter in the 98th overall pick, a step better than break-even. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick101
Rnd4
Sataoa Laumea
They talked themselves into Sataoa Laumea at No. 101, and the board did not agree. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick103
Rnd4
Tommy Eichenberg
A real head-scratcher, Tommy Eichenberg in Round 4, Pick 3 is miles ahead of his ranking. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick155
Rnd5
Malik Mustapha
They let Malik Mustapha come to them and pounced at the 155th pick. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick181
Rnd6
Roger Rosengarten
A reasonable price with a little left over, Roger Rosengarten in the 181st pick. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick199
Rnd6
De'Corian Clark
No drama and no debate, De'Corian Clark went about where he belonged in the Round 6 slot. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick220
Rnd6
Myles Jones
Myles Jones at Round 6, Pick 45 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick256
Rnd7
Chad Lindberg
They took Chad Lindberg at par in No. 256, which is nothing to complain about. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
