Draft Grade — Jets
Overall B
ValueB NeedB- TradesB FutureB
The Jets checked most of the boxes and earned a B.

There is reaching, and then there is Sam Hartman at pick 185. The Jets jumped the board by 74 and dared it to prove them wrong. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.

They banked enough surplus on Greenfield to cover a lot of smaller sins. They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The Jets clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before.

Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick15 Rnd1 Brock Bowers
In slot 15 they get a seam-stretching tight end at a price that makes it sweeter. More want than need.
Pick49 Rnd2 Keon Coleman
Nothing to complain about; Keon Coleman went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick72 Rnd3 Mike Sainristil
A straight-up fair deal on Mike Sainristil at the 72nd pick, value and slot in agreement. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick88 Rnd3 Renardo Green
Renardo Green slid further than he should have, and the Round 3 slot is lovely value for the safety. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick91 Rnd3 MarShawn Lloyd
By-the-book stuff, MarShawn Lloyd at pick 91 squarely in line with his ranking. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick97 Rnd3 Dominick Puni
Nice patience on Dominick Puni, who had no business lasting to pick No. 97. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick111 Rnd4 Brenden Rice
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Brenden Rice at pick No. 111 is the proof. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick135 Rnd4 Trevor Keegan
A premium they did not need to pay, Trevor Keegan a notch or two before his time. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick185 Rnd6 Sam Hartman
They left a pile of value on the table to take Sam Hartman this early at the 185th pick. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick194 Rnd6 Kamal Hadden
Kamal Hadden in slot 194 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick214 Rnd6 Julian Pearl
A tidy bit of business in Round 6, Pick 39, where Julian Pearl graded well above the range. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick224 Rnd7 Jaylan Ford
Jaylan Ford at No. 224 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick239 Rnd7 Evan Williams
Evan Williams at the 239th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick256 Rnd7 Garret Greenfield
A offensive lineman of that caliber at pick 256 is the definition of value, full stop. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick257 Rnd7 Nathan Thomas
They will replay Nathan Thomas at the 257th overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. The roster fit checks out.
