The Bears left with their quarterback, and a D+ to match.

The trade table was where it all came apart. The Bears shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill. Put together, it is a D+.

Caleb Williams gives the offense a face and a plan, and the grade leans heavily on whether he hits. The Stover pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with interior defensive lineman, cornerback and other spots still on the board. The cost of the Carlies reach is exactly the players who went right after him.

The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, interior defensive lineman very much included.

In the 2nd overall pick they get a franchise quarterback. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick32 Rnd1 Troy Franklin
In pick No. 32 they get a go-to option on the outside, and a steal at that. A real need, handled.
Pick48 Rnd2 Kris Jenkins
They took Kris Jenkins at par in the 48th pick, which is nothing to complain about. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick75 Rnd3 Brenden Rice
They did well to land Brenden Rice in No. 75, just ahead of his grade. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick85 Rnd3 Christian Mahogany
Christian Mahogany at the Round 3 slot is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.

The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending slot 90 on Cade Stover with interior defensive lineman, cornerback and other spots unsolved.

A surprising call. With interior defensive lineman, cornerback and other spots still to address, they spent Round 3, Pick 28 on Javon Solomon, an OLB-EDGE they were not short of.

They paid sticker price for Javon Foster in pick 123, and that is fine. A need, and now a little less of one.
