Draft Grade — Cardinals
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesC FutureA+
A solid, sensible weekend for the Cardinals: B.

You can usually follow a front office's logic. This one is harder. The Cardinals spent slot 90 on Caelen Carson while quarterback, edge rusher and other spots sat unaddressed. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.

The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. On value alone, Zinter makes the weekend a net positive.

A small leak at the table, if not a fatal one. Stockpiling next year's capital is patient, if unglamorous, asset work.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.

Pick Analysis
Pick12 Rnd1 Rome Odunze
In the Round 1 slot they get a matchup problem out wide. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick27 Rnd1 Kool-Aid McKinstry
In the Round 1 slot they get a sticky cover corner at fair value. Need was not the driver here.
Pick35 Rnd2 Xavier Legette
No drama and no debate, Xavier Legette went about where he belonged in Round 2, Pick 3. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick66 Rnd3 Kingsley Suamataia
Nothing to complain about; Kingsley Suamataia went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick71 Rnd3 Jaylen Wright
Jaylen Wright in No. 71 is fair value, right on his grade. It fills a real need, too.
Pick90 Rnd3 Caelen Carson
A curious use of the 90th pick. Quarterback, edge rusher and other spots needed the pick; a cornerback in Caelen Carson did not.
Pick104 Rnd4 Christian Mahogany
Fair-plus on Christian Mahogany, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick121 Rnd4 Zak Zinter
Zak Zinter slipping to slot 121 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
