Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB TradesA FutureB-
The Steelers kept it disciplined and banked a B.

There is reaching, and then there is Ollie Gordon II at pick 122. The Steelers jumped the board by 53 and dared it to prove them wrong. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.

Lachey at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss.

Interior defensive lineman was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick23 Rnd1 Kenneth Grant
In the 23rd overall pick they get a load in the middle. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick52 Rnd2 Tre Harris
A reasonable price with a little left over, Tre Harris in pick 52. It fills a real need, too.
Pick87 Rnd3 Darien Porter
Darien Porter in No. 87 lands just on the right side of the ledger. The roster fit checks out.
Pick97 Rnd3 Savion Williams
No drama and no debate, Savion Williams went about where he belonged in the Round 3 slot. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick122 Rnd4 Ollie Gordon II
They left a pile of value on the table to take Ollie Gordon II this early at the 122nd pick. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick140 Rnd5 Emery Jones Jr.
They read the board right and Emery Jones Jr. was the payoff at Round 5, Pick 1. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick163 Rnd5 Cobee Bryant
Cobee Bryant in the Round 5 slot is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick225 Rnd7 Cam Jackson
Cam Jackson in slot 225 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick231 Rnd7 Luke Lachey
A top-tier tight end at a bargain, Luke Lachey in Round 7, Pick 13, plain and simple. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick247 Rnd7 Miles Frazier
They did well to land Miles Frazier in pick No. 247, just ahead of his grade. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
