Draft Grade — Chiefs
Overall D
ValueB NeedB+ TradesF FutureB-
The Chiefs cashed the board's mistake on Sadiq: D.

The phones were a trap the Chiefs kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal.

They will answer for taking cornerback early while quarterback and linebacker went begging. A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. Every board in the league had Cisse lower, and that gap is the story.

On value alone, Sadiq makes the weekend a net positive.

In the end, a class the front office will want to grow past quickly.

Pick Analysis
Pick11 Rnd1 Carnell Tate
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Carnell Tate. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick19 Rnd1 Jeremiyah Love
In the 19th pick they get an every-down engine for the run game at a price that makes it sweeter. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick40 Rnd2 Kenyon Sadiq
Circle this one: Kenyon Sadiq at No. 40 is a fall that decides a draft. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick42 Rnd2 Brandon Cisse
They jumped the gun on Brandon Cisse, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick74 Rnd3 Domonique Orange
Domonique Orange in pick 74 is fair value, right on his grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick75 Rnd3 Julian Neal
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Julian Neal at cornerback with quarterback and linebacker open.
Pick77 Rnd3 Jake Golday
Jake Golday in pick 77 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick87 Rnd3 Zakee Wheatley
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Zakee Wheatley in the 87th overall pick. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick109 Rnd4 Kaytron Allen
A tidy little value on Kaytron Allen in slot 109, a step better than break-even. The roster fit checks out.
Pick146 Rnd5 Niki Prongos
Nothing to complain about; Niki Prongos went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick176 Rnd5 Davison Igbinosun
Davison Igbinosun at pick No. 176 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
