Larceny in slot 240 lands the Packers a B, Franklin and all. Call it larceny. Zakhari Franklin sat on the board until the 240th pick, and the Packers did not need to be asked twice. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. A modest surplus at the table, banked quietly. The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick Analysis
Pick19
Rnd1
Cooper DeJean
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Cooper DeJean. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick41
Rnd2
Amarius Mims
They barely believed it either: Amarius Mims still on the board at slot 41. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick58
Rnd2
Kris Jenkins
Fair-plus on Kris Jenkins, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick83
Rnd3
Zach Frazier
They took Zach Frazier at par in pick No. 83, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick89
Rnd3
Zak Zinter
Zak Zinter in the 89th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick92
Rnd3
Tykee Smith
Tykee Smith in the 92nd overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick119
Rnd4
Ray Davis
Ray Davis at the Round 4 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick135
Rnd4
Shemar Turner
They paid sticker price for Shemar Turner in pick 135, and that is fine. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick197
Rnd6
Steve Linton
Steve Linton slid further than he should have, and pick 197 is lovely value for the edge rusher. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick217
Rnd6
Isaiah Davis
A straight-up fair deal on Isaiah Davis at No. 217, value and slot in agreement. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick219
Rnd6
Isaiah Williams
No edge and no loss on Isaiah Williams in slot 219; it is a wash and a sensible one. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick240
Rnd7
Zakhari Franklin
Circle this one: Zakhari Franklin at the 240th overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
