The Chargers ran the phones like sharks, prying loose value on deal after deal until the ledger was lopsided.

That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Every board in the league had Gore Jr. lower, and that gap is the story. Getting Jackson where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
