Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall B+
ValueB NeedB+ TradesA+ FutureB-
The steal of the weekend belongs to the 49ers and Echoles: B+.

The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The 49ers watched Will Echoles slide 38 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B+.

They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. They will need Luckie to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick52 Rnd2 Will Echoles
Steal is underselling it; Will Echoles at No. 52 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick69 Rnd3 Kade Pieper
Kade Pieper in the 69th pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick100 Rnd3 Iapani Laloulu
A clean, defensible pick in the Round 3 slot with a little surplus value in Iapani Laloulu. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick123 Rnd4 Myles Graham
Myles Graham in pick No. 123 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick134 Rnd4 Brandon Inniss
Brandon Inniss in pick 134 is fair value, right on his grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick140 Rnd5 J'Koby Williams
J'Koby Williams at Round 5, Pick 3 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick142 Rnd5 Drake Lindsey
They paid sticker price for Drake Lindsey in the 142nd overall pick, and that is fine. It fills a real need, too.
Pick154 Rnd5 Mateen Ibirogba
No edge and no loss on Mateen Ibirogba in slot 154; it is a wash and a sensible one. The roster fit checks out.
Pick169 Rnd5 Lawson Luckie
They reached into another round for Lawson Luckie, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick210 Rnd6 Niki Prongos
No drama and no debate, Niki Prongos went about where he belonged in the 210th pick. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick250 Rnd7 Xavier Chaplin
Xavier Chaplin in slot 250 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
