Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall B+
ValueB NeedB- TradesA+ FutureB
The 49ers cashed the board's mistake on Alexander: B+.

Thirty-one other rooms let Bear Alexander slide, and the 49ers were the ones holding the card at pick No. 101. Highway robbery. It does the job without flash, and the B+ reflects it.

The phones were where this weekend was really won. The running back hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The 49ers clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before.

They left with offensive lineman solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

Good work on the whole, with running back the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick101 Rnd3 Bear Alexander
Bear Alexander at the Round 3 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick135 Rnd4 Marcus Neal Jr.
Marcus Neal Jr. at the 135th overall pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick144 Rnd5 Ian Moore
By-the-book stuff, Ian Moore at slot 144 squarely in line with his ranking. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick167 Rnd5 Mateen Ibirogba
No edge and no loss on Mateen Ibirogba in pick No. 167; it is a wash and a sensible one. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick178 Rnd5 Jermaine Mathews Jr.
They paid sticker price for Jermaine Mathews Jr. in pick 178, and that is fine. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick190 Rnd6 Nicholas Rodriguez
A linebacker of that caliber at No. 190 is the definition of value, full stop. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick191 Rnd6 Jayden Virgin-Morgan
Jayden Virgin-Morgan in Round 6, Pick 11 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick198 Rnd6 King Mack
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and King Mack at the 198th pick is the proof. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick207 Rnd6 Cayden Lee
A slide stopped in the 207th pick, with Cayden Lee worth more than the price. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick215 Rnd6 Zavier Mincey
Value with a capital V on Zavier Mincey in pick 215, a genuine coup. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Pick219 Rnd6 Coen Echols
Coen Echols slid further than he should have, and Round 6, Pick 39 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick239 Rnd7 C.J. Fite
C.J. Fite in the Round 7 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick247 Rnd7 Sammy Omosigho
Sammy Omosigho at the 247th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It fills a real need, too.
Pick252 Rnd7 Sheridan Wilson
A straight-up fair deal on Sheridan Wilson at slot 252, value and slot in agreement. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
