Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall B+
ValueB NeedB+ TradesA FutureB-
Larceny in slot 64 lands the 49ers a B+, Echoles and all.

Thirty-one other rooms let Will Echoles slide, and the 49ers were the ones holding the card at the 64th pick. Highway robbery.

The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. They will need Staley to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same.

Offensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick32 Rnd1 Jadan Baugh
In pick No. 32 they get a featured back. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick64 Rnd2 Will Echoles
Will Echoles at pick 64 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick96 Rnd3 Braylon Staley
They paid up for Braylon Staley at slot 96 when waiting would have done the job. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick136 Rnd4 Anthony Boswell
By-the-book stuff, Anthony Boswell at No. 136 squarely in line with his ranking. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick169 Rnd5 Mateen Ibirogba
Mateen Ibirogba at the 169th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick209 Rnd6 King Mack
They robbed the room for King Mack here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick252 Rnd7 Sheridan Wilson
Sheridan Wilson at the Round 7 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
