Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall B+
ValueB NeedB TradesA+ FutureB-
The 49ers robbed the room for Echoles. Final grade: B+.

This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Will Echoles, the No. 13 name on the board, stolen at No. 62.

The Saka pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. The phones were where this weekend was really won. They will regret leaving wide receiver for another day if the season turns on it.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.

Pick Analysis
Pick62 Rnd2 Will Echoles
Somehow Will Echoles was still sitting there in No. 62, and they pounced on premier interior defensive lineman value. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick94 Rnd3 Anto Saka
Anto Saka at pick No. 94 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick131 Rnd4 Amare Ferrell
A quiet steal in the 131st pick: Amare Ferrell for less than the market said. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick168 Rnd5 Mateen Ibirogba
By-the-book stuff, Mateen Ibirogba at the Round 5 slot squarely in line with his ranking. The roster fit checks out.
Pick192 Rnd6 Drew Bobo
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Drew Bobo at slot 192 is the proof. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick208 Rnd6 Jacob Ponton
Jacob Ponton at the 208th overall pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick252 Rnd7 Donovan Jones
Fair-plus on Donovan Jones, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
