Draft Grade — Lions
Overall B
ValueB+ NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Lions checked most of the boxes and earned a B.

The Lions did not so much draft Solomon Tuliaupupu as overpay for him, 72 picks clear of his grade. It sets an uneasy tone for the weekend.

That is a wide receiver worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want.

Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. The skill positions did well by the weekend.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

Pick Analysis
Pick27 Rnd1 Jeremiyah Love
In the 27th overall pick they get a workhorse for the backfield at a price that makes it sweeter. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick59 Rnd2 Eric Singleton Jr.
They barely believed it either: Eric Singleton Jr. still on the board at pick No. 59. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick127 Rnd4 Monroe Mills
Monroe Mills at the Round 4 slot jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick166 Rnd5 Rasheem Biles
Rasheem Biles in the 166th pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick188 Rnd6 Xavier Scott
They will replay Xavier Scott at pick 188 for years; that is how good the value is. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick205 Rnd6 Solomon Tuliaupupu
They talked themselves into Solomon Tuliaupupu at No. 205, and the board did not agree. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick240 Rnd7 Jack Velling
Jack Velling at slot 240 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick255 Rnd7 Dasan McCullough
A tidy little value on Dasan McCullough in pick 255, a step better than break-even. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
