Draft Grade — Saints
Overall D-
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesF FutureB-
The phones sank the Saints this weekend: D-.

The trade table was where it all came apart. The Saints shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill. Put together, it is a D-.

Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Every board in the league had Suamataia lower, and that gap is the story.

Baker at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. Justin Fields gives the group a proven body among the projects.

Bottom line, they will be counting on several picks to beat their grades.

Pick Analysis
Pick9 Rnd1 Olumuyiwa Fashanu
Olumuyiwa Fashanu at Round 1, Pick 9 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick45 Rnd2 Kingsley Suamataia
Kingsley Suamataia at No. 45 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick75 Rnd3 Cooper Beebe
By-the-book stuff, Cooper Beebe at pick 75 squarely in line with his ranking. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick136 Rnd4 Cole Bishop
Cole Bishop at the 136th overall pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick152 Rnd5 Jaylin Simpson
A reasonable price with a little left over, Jaylin Simpson in the Round 5 slot. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick170 Rnd5 Zion Tupuola-Fetui
Zion Tupuola-Fetui in slot 170 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick176 Rnd6 Jaylan Ford
A tidy little value on Jaylan Ford in the 176th pick, a step better than break-even. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick192 Rnd6 Javon Baker
Javon Baker in pick No. 192 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick205 Rnd6 Erick All
No edge and no loss on Erick All in pick No. 205; it is a wash and a sensible one. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
