Draft Grade — Lions
Overall D-
ValueD- NeedB+ TradesF FutureA
A costly weekend of dealing drags the Lions to a D-.

The Lions went off the board in a big way for Zak Zinter, 44 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another.

Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. That cornerback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The hoard sets up next April more than it helps this September.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even.

Pick Analysis
Pick28 Rnd1 Jackson Powers-Johnson
In Round 1, Pick 28 they get a plug-and-play piece up front, a steep price for the projection. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick40 Rnd2 Cooper Beebe
They left a pile of value on the table to take Cooper Beebe this early at the Round 2 slot. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick50 Rnd2 Zak Zinter
A wild overpay on Zak Zinter in the 50th pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
