Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Falcons spent the 244th overall pick on Jamaree Caldwell, a name the board had a full 88 spots lower.

They banked enough surplus on Spears-Jennings to cover a lot of smaller sins. They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

The veteran additions, John Franklin-Myers chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not.
