Draft Grade — Jets
Overall A-
ValueB+ NeedB+ TradesA+ FutureA
The Jets fleeced the room on the phones and earned a A-.

Whoever sat across the table from the Jets should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend. This is how you run a draft, and the A- reflects it.

A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. Starks at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.

Bottom line, with Will Johnson leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.

Pick Analysis
Pick24 Rnd1 Will Johnson
In No. 24 they get a ballhawk on the outside, and a steal at that. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick42 Rnd2 Malaki Starks
The board had Malaki Starks higher than the Round 2 slot, and the safety fell to them anyway. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick73 Rnd3 Quinshon Judkins
Quinshon Judkins at the 73rd pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick110 Rnd4 Will Howard
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 110 with a little surplus value in Will Howard. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick145 Rnd5 Hollin Pierce
Fair-plus on Hollin Pierce, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick162 Rnd5 O'Donnell Fortune
They did well to land O'Donnell Fortune in slot 162, just ahead of his grade. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick186 Rnd6 Jack Kiser
By-the-book stuff, Jack Kiser at Round 6, Pick 10 squarely in line with his ranking. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick207 Rnd6 Jay Toia
A reasonable price with a little left over, Jay Toia in the 207th overall pick. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
