Ralph Kramden DRAFTING FOR THEJets

FutureA
More right than wrong for the Jets, and a B+ to prove it. There is conviction, and then there is this. The Jets took JJ Pegues a full 22 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend. A dependable weekend that grades out a B+.
Lundt falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick Analysis
Pick20
Rnd1
Tetairoa McMillan
In No. 20 they get a difference-maker at receiver at a price that makes it sweeter. A real need, handled.
Pick42
Rnd2
Jihaad Campbell
They did well to land Jihaad Campbell in the 42nd overall pick, just ahead of his grade. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick51
Rnd2
JT Tuimoloau
JT Tuimoloau at pick No. 51 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the edge rusher. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick73
Rnd3
Maxwell Hairston
They took Maxwell Hairston at par in pick 73, which is nothing to complain about. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick85
Rnd3
Tate Ratledge
Tate Ratledge is a better player than Round 3, Pick 21 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick110
Rnd4
Cam Skattebo
Nice patience on Cam Skattebo, who had no business lasting to slot 110. It fills a real need, too.
Pick145
Rnd5
Tyler Shough
A clean, defensible pick in slot 145 with a little surplus value in Tyler Shough. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick162
Rnd5
JJ Pegues
JJ Pegues in the 162nd overall pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick186
Rnd6
Chase Lundt
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Chase Lundt at Round 6, Pick 10. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick207
Rnd6
Jaylen Reed
Jaylen Reed at the Round 6 slot is money in the bank, a safety taken below his worth. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
