FutureA+
Edwards should have been long gone. The Giants pounced, and earned a A. The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Donovan Edwards, the Round 7 slot, roughly 43 picks past where he belonged.
The phones were where this weekend was really won. That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
Charvarius Ward gives the group a proven body among the projects. It is a bet on later, and a defensible one for a team playing the long game.
Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Armand Membou and all.
Pick Analysis
Pick14
Rnd1
Armand Membou
Armand Membou at the 14th overall pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick34
Rnd2
Matthew Golden
You do not let a wide receiver like Matthew Golden reach the 34th pick and blink. They did not. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick45
Rnd2
Omarion Hampton
A tidy bit of business in slot 45, where Omarion Hampton graded well above the range. It fills a real need, too.
Pick65
Rnd3
Jihaad Campbell
Steal is underselling it; Jihaad Campbell at pick 65 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick80
Rnd3
Isaiah Bond
Nothing to complain about; Isaiah Bond went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick99
Rnd3
Quinn Ewers
Good price on Quinn Ewers in the Round 3 slot, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick105
Rnd4
Sebastian Castro
Sebastian Castro in pick No. 105 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick154
Rnd5
Logan Brown
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Logan Brown at Round 5, Pick 16. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick219
Rnd7
Joshua Gray
The board had Joshua Gray higher than the 219th overall pick, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick246
Rnd7
Donovan Edwards
They robbed the room for Donovan Edwards here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
