Draft Grade — Giants
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
Ward is the plan now, and the Giants grade out a B-.

Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Giants were there to profit. Ryan Fitzgerald, the No. 117 name on the board, should have been long gone before Round 7, Pick 3.

Cam Ward gives the offense a face and a plan, and the grade leans heavily on whether he hits. Reaching for Bryant left real value on the table behind him. A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want.

They went 6 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick3 Rnd1 Cam Ward
In slot 3 they get the face of the franchise at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick34 Rnd2 Nick Emmanwori
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Nick Emmanwori at the 34th overall pick. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick65 Rnd3 Jihaad Campbell
Somehow Jihaad Campbell was still sitting there in the Round 3 slot, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick113 Rnd4 Jack Nelson
They jumped the gun on Jack Nelson, taking him earlier than his grade liked. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick134 Rnd4 Jared Wilson
They will replay Jared Wilson at slot 134 for years; that is how good the value is. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick155 Rnd5 Quinshon Judkins
They robbed the room for Quinshon Judkins here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The roster fit checks out.
Pick164 Rnd5 Cobee Bryant
Cobee Bryant at Round 5, Pick 25 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick221 Rnd7 Ryan Fitzgerald
Steal is underselling it; Ryan Fitzgerald at No. 221 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick248 Rnd7 Luke Lachey
You do not let a tight end like Luke Lachey reach the 248th pick and blink. They did not. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
