Draft Grade — Giants
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Giants answered their biggest question with Ward. Grade: B-.

They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Cam Ward is the Giants' quarterback, full stop. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.

That Barham pick is the receipt they will wave around later. For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain. Safety is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.

In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.

Pick Analysis
Pick2 Rnd1 Cam Ward
In pick No. 2 they get the arm they will build around. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick33 Rnd2 Xavier Restrepo
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Xavier Restrepo at the 33rd overall pick is the proof. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick66 Rnd3 Tyler Booker
Tyler Booker in No. 66 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick102 Rnd4 Kaleb Johnson
Taking Kaleb Johnson in pick 102 is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. It fills a real need, too.
Pick134 Rnd4 Michael Taaffe
They robbed the room for Michael Taaffe here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick155 Rnd5 Zy Alexander
Zy Alexander at the Round 5 slot is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick217 Rnd7 Ar'maj Reed-Adams
Circle this one: Ar'maj Reed-Adams at the 217th pick is a fall that decides a draft. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick245 Rnd7 Jaishawn Barham
Jaishawn Barham in slot 245 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
