Draft Grade — Giants
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB+ TradesC FutureB-
The Giants checked most of the boxes and earned a B-.

When the story of this class is written, it opens with Bryce Boettcher at No. 105, a reach of 54 spots that the board flatly disagrees with. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.

The safety hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Getting Hood where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. Job largely done: interior defensive lineman settled and 4 of 9 of the wish list covered.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

Pick Analysis
Pick11 Rnd1 Kadyn Proctor
In the 11th pick they get protection for the quarterback. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick37 Rnd2 Colton Hood
Nice patience on Colton Hood, who had no business lasting to pick No. 37. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick75 Rnd3 Omar Cooper Jr.
A straight-up fair deal on Omar Cooper Jr. at slot 75, value and slot in agreement. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick105 Rnd4 Bryce Boettcher
Bryce Boettcher at Round 4, Pick 5 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick143 Rnd5 Aaron Graves
The board had cheaper options than Aaron Graves at the Round 5 slot, and it noticed. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick149 Rnd5 DJ Campbell
They went early on DJ Campbell in No. 149, and the value did not follow. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick184 Rnd6 Barion Brown
They reached into another round for Barion Brown, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick190 Rnd6 Trey Zuhn III
Trey Zuhn III in the Round 6 slot is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick191 Rnd6 Bryce Foster
They liked Bryce Foster enough to skip the value, taking him in No. 191. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
