Draft Grade — Giants
Overall C+
ValueC+ NeedB TradesC- FutureB-
The Giants land in the muddy middle: C+.

You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Giants did exactly that with Shaun Dolac in the 246th pick. A mixed bag that lands at C+.

Hunter falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. A small leak at the table, if not a fatal one.

Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.

The verdict is a shrug for now, with the swing picks left to write the real ending.

Pick Analysis
Pick5 Rnd1 Abdul Carter
In pick 5 they get juice off the edge. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick34 Rnd2 Jonah Savaiinaea
Jonah Savaiinaea at slot 34 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick65 Rnd3 Kyle McCord
A wild overpay on Kyle McCord in pick No. 65, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick70 Rnd3 Elic Ayomanor
Elic Ayomanor at Round 3, Pick 6 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick99 Rnd3 Anthony Belton
Anthony Belton at the Round 3 slot jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick105 Rnd4 Kevin Winston Jr.
Nice patience on Kevin Winston Jr., who had no business lasting to the 105th pick. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick154 Rnd5 Nick Nash
Nick Nash in Round 5, Pick 16 lands just on the right side of the ledger. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick182 Rnd6 Davin Vann
Davin Vann at pick No. 182 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick219 Rnd7 Jarquez Hunter
Steal is underselling it; Jarquez Hunter at the Round 7 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick246 Rnd7 Shaun Dolac
They reached a country mile for Shaun Dolac at slot 246, and the board is aghast. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
