Draft Grade — Dolphins
Overall C+
ValueB NeedB TradesF FutureA+
The Dolphins got the worse of every deal, and it shows in the C+.

Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Jalen Travis at the 253rd overall pick is 40 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline.

Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Burke. The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close.

Spending an early pick on cornerback with edge rusher and linebacker open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it.

Hit on Omarion Hampton and the swing picks, and this ages a lot better than it grades today.

Pick Analysis
Pick48 Rnd2 Omarion Hampton
Omarion Hampton at pick No. 48 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick98 Rnd3 Quinn Ewers
They did well to land Quinn Ewers in No. 98, just ahead of his grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick99 Rnd3 Zy Alexander
The board had cheaper options than Zy Alexander at pick 99, and it noticed. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick116 Rnd4 Xavier Restrepo
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Xavier Restrepo at the 116th pick. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick119 Rnd4 Anthony Belton
Anthony Belton at Round 4, Pick 17 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It fills a real need, too.
Pick135 Rnd4 Dorian Strong
Of all the spots to shop, they chose cornerback. Dorian Strong in slot 135 leaves edge rusher and linebacker for later.
Pick150 Rnd5 Denzel Burke
The board fumbled Denzel Burke all the way to the 150th pick, and they scooped it up. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick155 Rnd5 Nick Nash
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Nick Nash. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick193 Rnd6 Oronde Gadsden II
No drama and no debate, Oronde Gadsden II went about where he belonged in Round 6, Pick 17. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick224 Rnd7 Cam Jackson
They jumped the gun on Cam Jackson, taking him earlier than his grade liked. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick231 Rnd7 Isaac TeSlaa
Isaac TeSlaa at pick No. 231 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick253 Rnd7 Jalen Travis
Value said wait; Jalen Travis in slot 253 says they were not listening. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
