Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall B
ValueB NeedB+ TradesB FutureB-
Good, not great, for the Seahawks: B.

Of all the ways to open, the Seahawks chose the head-scratcher, spending pick 124 on James Williams with quarterback, running back and other spots still wide open.

If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Hicks. The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick Analysis
Pick17 Rnd1 Taliese Fuaga
In pick No. 17 they get a cornerstone up front. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick78 Rnd3 Christian Haynes
Christian Haynes in Round 3, Pick 14 is fair value, right on his grade. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick81 Rnd3 Junior Colson
A reasonable price with a little left over, Junior Colson in pick No. 81. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick87 Rnd3 Cooper Beebe
Cooper Beebe at the 87th overall pick is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick118 Rnd4 Jaden Hicks
Jaden Hicks slid further than he should have, and No. 118 is lovely value for the safety. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick124 Rnd4 James Williams
They bypassed pressing needs at quarterback, running back and other spots to take James Williams, a safety that was not the priority.
Pick154 Rnd5 Keith Randolph Jr.
Keith Randolph Jr. at pick 154 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick194 Rnd6 Jared Wiley
They paid sticker price for Jared Wiley in the Round 6 slot, and that is fine. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick236 Rnd7 Joshua Cephus
A tidy little value on Joshua Cephus in the 236th pick, a step better than break-even. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
