The board owed the Steelers one, and it paid up: Jayden Higgins, the No. 69 name on the board, sitting there at slot 163 like a gift left on the doorstep.

They will need Cook to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The roster is better shaped than it was, with quarterback chief among the fixes.
