Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall
F
ValueC+
NeedB
TradesF
FutureD+
The Steelers went off-script early, and it cost them a F. The Steelers treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending slot 103 on Cam Miller a full 150 spots early.
Judkins falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up. Spend now, pay later; the math only works if this class delivers.
Bottom line, it will take a lot of luck to make this look better later.
Pick Analysis
Pick30
Rnd1
Emeka Egbuka
In No. 30 they get a true top target. A real need, handled.
Pick52
Rnd2
Trey Amos
They paid sticker price for Trey Amos in the Round 2 slot, and that is fine. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick56
Rnd2
Hollin Pierce
Hollin Pierce in pick 56 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick62
Rnd2
Jihaad Campbell
Jihaad Campbell in Round 2, Pick 30 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick83
Rnd3
TreVeyon Henderson
TreVeyon Henderson at slot 83 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick103
Rnd4
Cam Miller
Value said wait; Cam Miller in pick No. 103 says they were not listening. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick121
Rnd4
Kevin Winston Jr.
They will replay Kevin Winston Jr. at slot 121 for years; that is how good the value is. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick169
Rnd5
Quinshon Judkins
Somehow Quinshon Judkins was still sitting there in pick No. 169, and they pounced on premier running back value. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick202
Rnd6
Cody Simon
The board fumbled Cody Simon all the way to pick 202, and they scooped it up. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick223
Rnd7
Garrett Dellinger
They talked themselves into Garrett Dellinger at No. 223, and the board did not agree. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Pick229
Rnd7
Giles Jackson
They reached into another round for Giles Jackson, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick245
Rnd7
Elijhah Badger
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Elijhah Badger well ahead of where he belonged. The roster fit checks out.
