MPLS1989 DRAFTING FOR THEChargers
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Chargers
Overall

FutureB-
Nothing loud, just a tidy B- for the Chargers. If confidence were a draft strategy, the Chargers would have aced it. Chase Bisontis at pick No. 86 is 35 spots clear of where he belonged. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.
That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Downs. The roster is better shaped than it was, with interior defensive lineman chief among the fixes.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick Analysis
Pick22
Rnd1
Caleb Downs
Steal is underselling it; Caleb Downs at No. 22 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick55
Rnd2
Darrell Jackson Jr.
They paid up for Darrell Jackson Jr. at Round 2, Pick 23 when waiting would have done the job. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick86
Rnd3
Chase Bisontis
They left a pile of value on the table to take Chase Bisontis this early at the Round 3 slot. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick123
Rnd4
DJ McKinney
DJ McKinney at the 123rd pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick202
Rnd6
Evan Stewart
Evan Stewart at pick No. 202 is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
