MPLS1989 DRAFTING FOR THEBroncos
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Broncos
Overall

ValueB-

TradesB-
FutureB-
The Broncos kept it disciplined and banked a B-. If confidence were a draft strategy, the Broncos would have aced it. Rayshaun Benny at Round 5, Pick 28 is 23 spots clear of where he belonged. No fireworks, but a solid B-.
Landing Klare that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. Leaving linebacker unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
On the needs board they went 4 of 8, with interior defensive lineman the one that mattered most. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick Analysis
Pick28
Rnd1
Denzel Boston
In slot 28 they get a true top target at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick60
Rnd2
A'Mauri Washington
A'Mauri Washington in pick 60 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick92
Rnd3
Max Klare
Somehow Max Klare was still sitting there in pick No. 92, and they pounced on premier tight end value. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick102
Rnd4
Joe Royer
Taking Joe Royer in the Round 4 slot is close to grand larceny; a tight end that good had no business lasting this long. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick128
Rnd4
Bryce Lance
They let Bryce Lance come to them and pounced at No. 128. The roster fit checks out.
Pick168
Rnd5
Rayshaun Benny
They talked themselves into Rayshaun Benny at the 168th overall pick, and the board did not agree. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick242
Rnd7
Tristan Leigh
By-the-book stuff, Tristan Leigh at slot 242 squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick250
Rnd7
Peyton Bowen
Peyton Bowen slipping to the 250th pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick253
Rnd7
Jordan White
Jordan White at pick No. 253 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick257
Rnd7
Bear Alexander
Bear Alexander at the 257th overall pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the interior defensive lineman. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
