The needs board said one thing and the Vikings did another, using No. 97 on Chandler Rivers while quarterback, edge rusher and other spots waited. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.

For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. They are betting Halton proves the room right and everyone else wrong. Castell at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.

Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
