No fireworks, just a tidy B for the Rams. There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Rams started one anyway for Eric Gentry, 73 picks ahead of schedule. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.
The Everette pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with running back, tight end and other spots still on the board. For all the activity, running back went untouched, which is hard to explain.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the running back spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick13
Rnd1
Mansoor Delane
Mansoor Delane at pick 13 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick93
Rnd3
Daylen Everette
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending No. 93 on Daylen Everette with running back, tight end and other spots unsolved.
Pick112
Rnd4
Jude Bowry
They went early on Jude Bowry in slot 112, and the value did not follow. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick167
Rnd5
Bud Clark
Bud Clark in pick No. 167 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick177
Rnd5
Haynes King
A wild overpay on Haynes King in the 177th overall pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick205
Rnd6
Eric Gentry
A big swing on Eric Gentry at the Round 6 slot, well ahead of any board in the building. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick208
Rnd6
J. Michael Sturdivant
They reached into another round for J. Michael Sturdivant, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick232
Rnd7
Riley Mahlman
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Riley Mahlman. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick240
Rnd7
Ethan O'Connor
They paid sticker price for Ethan O'Connor in pick 240, and that is fine. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Pick250
Rnd7
Jaquaize Pettaway
A reach on Jaquaize Pettaway in Round 7, Pick 34; the board had better options right there. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick256
Rnd7
Micah Morris
Micah Morris at the Round 7 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
