Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Falcons were there to profit. Alfred Collins, the No. 56 name on the board, should have been long gone before the 244th pick.

It is not that Barron is a bad player; it is that the Falcons had louder needs to answer first. The offensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with interior defensive lineman chief among the fixes. They reloaded the coverage unit in bulk.
