Draft Grade — Texans
Overall B
ValueA- NeedB TradesD+ FutureA
Best value of the weekend goes to the Texans for Thieneman: B.

The board owed the Texans one, and it paid up: Dillon Thieneman, the No. 57 name on the board, sitting there at Round 3, Pick 23 like a gift left on the doorstep.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped wide receiver, which is a strange place to end up. They are betting Graves proves the room right and everyone else wrong. The hoard sets up next April more than it helps this September.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but wide receiver.

Pick Analysis
Pick22 Rnd1 Jeremiyah Love
In slot 22 they get a workhorse for the backfield, and a steal at that. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick40 Rnd2 Kenyon Sadiq
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Kenyon Sadiq in the Round 2 slot. The roster fit checks out.
Pick54 Rnd2 Connor Lew
The board had Connor Lew higher than the 54th pick, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick69 Rnd3 Olaivavega Ioane
The board fumbled Olaivavega Ioane all the way to pick 69, and they scooped it up. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick87 Rnd3 Dillon Thieneman
Steal is underselling it; Dillon Thieneman at the 87th overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick108 Rnd4 Xavier Chaplin
Xavier Chaplin at Round 4, Pick 8 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick127 Rnd4 Jaishawn Barham
Jaishawn Barham slid further than he should have, and No. 127 is lovely value for the linebacker. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick153 Rnd5 Aaron Graves
They liked Aaron Graves enough to skip the value, taking him in pick No. 153. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick225 Rnd7 Jordan Castell
A straight-up fair deal on Jordan Castell at No. 225, value and slot in agreement. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Pick237 Rnd7 James Smith
James Smith in the 237th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
