Draft Grade — Falcons
Overall
B
ValueB
NeedB+
TradesB-
FutureB-
Grand theft in pick 114: the Falcons steal Freeling and grade out a B. The Falcons did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Monroe Freeling fell into pick 114. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.
Reaching for Catalon left real value on the table behind him. For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick Analysis
Pick48
Rnd2
Jake Slaughter
They did well to land Jake Slaughter in Round 2, Pick 16, just ahead of his grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick79
Rnd3
Devin Moore
Devin Moore in No. 79 is fair value, right on his grade. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick114
Rnd4
Monroe Freeling
The board fumbled Monroe Freeling all the way to pick 114, and they scooped it up. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick195
Rnd6
Jalen Catalon
They reached a country mile for Jalen Catalon at the 195th pick, and the board is aghast. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick231
Rnd7
Jaren Kanak
Jaren Kanak in pick No. 231 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
