Lew should have been long gone. The Vikings pounced, and earned a B+. When a board-topper like Connor Lew slides to No. 97, you do not overthink it, and the Vikings did not.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick18
Rnd1
Arvell Reese
In pick No. 18 they get a green-dot type in the middle at a price that makes it sweeter.
Pick49
Rnd2
Caleb Banks
Caleb Banks at the 49th overall pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick97
Rnd3
Connor Lew
The board fumbled Connor Lew all the way to the Round 3 slot, and they scooped it up. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick161
Rnd5
Kevin Coleman Jr.
They did well to land Kevin Coleman Jr. in pick 161, just ahead of his grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick194
Rnd6
DJ Campbell
DJ Campbell slid further than he should have, and slot 194 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick234
Rnd7
Keyshaun Elliott
Keyshaun Elliott in No. 234 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Pick240
Rnd7
Jaren Kanak
Nice patience on Jaren Kanak, who had no business lasting to Round 7, Pick 24. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
