FutureB-
A solid, sensible weekend for the Steelers: B-. You can usually follow a front office's logic. This one is harder. The Steelers spent pick 60 on Zach Frazier while quarterback, edge rusher and other spots sat unaddressed. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. They banked enough surplus on Lassiter to cover a lot of smaller sins. Interior defensive lineman was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick28
Rnd1
Amarius Mims
In the 28th pick they get a blindside protector. Need was not the driver here.
Pick51
Rnd2
Kamari Lassiter
Value with a capital V on Kamari Lassiter in the 51st overall pick, a genuine coup. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick60
Rnd2
Zach Frazier
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, Zach Frazier adds an offensive lineman and leaves quarterback, edge rusher and other spots untouched.
Pick84
Rnd3
Renardo Green
Renardo Green in pick 84 lands just on the right side of the ledger. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick98
Rnd3
Brenden Rice
They paid sticker price for Brenden Rice in slot 98, and that is fine. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick119
Rnd4
Tyler Davis
They took Tyler Davis at par in the Round 4 slot, which is nothing to complain about. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick150
Rnd5
Luke McCaffrey
A straight-up fair deal on Luke McCaffrey at the 150th pick, value and slot in agreement. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
