The Steelers cashed the board's mistake on Higgins: B.

Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Jay Higgins got past him. The Steelers do not have to explain a thing at pick No. 231. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.

For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. Interior defensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

Pick Analysis
Pick21 Rnd1 Tetairoa McMillan
In pick 21 they get a difference-maker at receiver at a price that makes it sweeter. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick52 Rnd2 TreVeyon Henderson
TreVeyon Henderson in No. 52 is fair value, right on his grade. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick83 Rnd3 Darien Porter
A clean, defensible pick in the Round 3 slot with a little surplus value in Darien Porter. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick122 Rnd4 Darius Alexander
Darius Alexander at slot 122 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick163 Rnd5 Logan Brown
Steal is underselling it; Logan Brown at Round 5, Pick 24 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick225 Rnd7 Craig Woodson
Craig Woodson at the 225th pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick231 Rnd7 Jay Higgins
Jay Higgins in the 231st overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick247 Rnd7 Clay Webb
Clay Webb in pick No. 247 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
