Hampton should have been long gone. The Bears pounced, and earned a C+.

Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Omarion Hampton got past him. The Bears do not have to explain a thing at pick No. 72. It lands right in the middle: a C+, no more, no less.

They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. The Hemingway pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.

They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. Interior defensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

A perfectly average weekend, for better and for worse.
