A franchise passer in McCarthy headlines a B- weekend for the Bears.

Somebody in pick No. 210 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Bears sat still while Theo Johnson, the No. 123 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.

J.J. McCarthy is the bet, and the class will be judged on how it pays off. Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Reaching for Bullock left real value on the table behind him.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
